Would you like to develop new skills to take positive actions towards eliminating global poverty, build capacity and acquire skills to question and challenge injustices globally?
CORE will be starting new Global Awareness* groups aiming at promoting knowledge, awareness and understanding of global development issues and poverty reduction agenda amongst North Edinburgh BME communities. Equipping members of these communities with skills to take positive actions/change behaviour towards eliminating global poverty, including changes in their own actions.

Cooking Classes Starting Soon
For BME people who are aged 35 years and over
The aim of the cooking classes are to encourage healthy eating and improve cooking skills by introducing participants to new ingredients and cooking methods. The classes will also allow participants to access up to date healthy eating information and share experiences with people from different cultural backgrounds.

Weekly Football Sessions for BME Men
A new and exciting opportunity for local BME community.
The aim of this project is to provide new opportunities for the local Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community to participate in physical activities in an organised fashion and to help promote and strengthen community cohesion and social inclusion in North Edinburgh.
Skills Project - Starting Soon
This city-wide course is open to unemployed individuals from a Black and Minority Ethnic background between the ages of 18-50.
The Skills Project training course consists of a combination of classroom based learning and ongoing one to one support and guidance. The CLASSROOM BASED LEARNING is an opportunity to learn multiple subjects that will considerably improve chances of gaining employment. For example, information technology and literacy, job search skills, knowledge and understanding of the job market, how to succeed with interviews, first aid, motivation and confidence building.

CORE(formerly BCDP) and Pilton Community Health Project (PCHP) worked with a group of people from the Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) community in Greater Pilton in 2008 to explore:
• what participants felt affected their health
• the community’s experience of health related services.

Minority Ethnic Mums' Support Group
This group is for mums with children under 5 years of age.
- Come and meet other mums with children under 5.
- Learn and share experiences.
- Take time out for yourself.
- Take part in activities that interest you.
- All in a safe and supportive environment.
- Your children will be looked after by qualified workers in a large spacious creche.
- Great opportunity for your kids to interact with other children.
- Refreshments available.

Advice & Support for Minority Ethnic Children & Young People
Advice and support service for Black & Minority Ethnic children and young people 5-18 years old living in North Edinburgh.
The service can be accessed by children and young people themselves or by referral from a parent/carer, teacher or youth worker.
Our Advice Worker Alyson can help with:
- Bullying.
- Problems at school.
- Problems in your neighbourhood.
- Racism and Prejudice.
- Knowing what your rights are.
- Need information.
English Language Courses
